APLJaK's Guillemot
Finally splashed June 2010. Kayak is not finished, but it is a boat. Still need to add many of the finishing touches including bulkheads. The 'yak has flush hatches with internal bungees, a Seattle Sports seat, Seadog foot braces and custom made grab handles. I need to finish the handles, change the ropes and put on a minimal set of deck lines. She sits very nice in the water and seems to paddle well although I am new to kayaking so have nothing to compare it to.
2004 TS WIlly Nilly Guillemot
My first strip-built kayak. I built it in the winter/spring of 2004. I've since built over 15 kayaks and/or canoes. http://clearstreamwood.com/WordPress/
Guillemot of Finland
Hi there Nick !
Thank You for inspiring us with the beautiful kayak designs. The kayaks
that You have designed, are very appealing to us because of the slender
lines . We decided to built the Guillemot-design, because we thought that
it was the best and the most appealing to our eyes. The materials that we
used was fir, thermotreated aspen and mahogany.
The built took about 6 months and about 140-180 hours of work .
We used the facilities of an old paint shop, that was perfect for
building two kayaks in it. First kayak was completed 2005 and last 2009.

Charles Leach's Guillemot
My first kayak build was a Guillemot for my wife. She's constructed of white pine, red oak, Douglas fir, and, of course, western red cedar. I cut the strips from locally purchased lumber on a bandsaw and milled the bead and cove on a homemade router table. For directions, I used only "The Strip Built Kayak" by Nick Schade and the "KBBB" also supplied by Nick. I lofted the forms from the table of offsets in Nicks book. This is a very good choice for a first effort. Her name is "Arcturus".
